The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) warned consumers to beware of a new telephone fraud, known as a “vishing” scheme, that is using the agency’s name in an attempt to obtain personal financial information.
Several credit union members have been contacted by an automated phone call claiming to be from NCUA and notifying consumers their debit cards have been compromised. The call then asks the receiver to follow prompts, which request personal information, including sensitive financial data and personal identification information.
The Check Request feature in Online Banking will be removed in February 2014. You may have used this feature to send yourself checks made payable to you. This functionality is still available at no cost to you through Southeast Financial Bill Pay. In fact, with Bill Pay, you have even more flexibility. You can add yourself, a friend, or a family member as a payee in Bill Pay and have a check mailed to you or to them. You can set this up as a one-time payment or schedule it to recur.
